Morning set up

There is something about a morning set up or flow that reorganises my soul.

My situ is not complicated.

It’s not a certain set of sequences (well, yes tea first!).

It doesn’t belong to any organisation or instiution.

It’s mine.

And its often messy and it changes with the seasons.

But a morning set of things is the most devotional offering I can give myself.

I believe women have written about this for many moons and well before my or my mothers lifetime. Women have had their own rooms, I remember a book I once owned called A Room Of One’s Own. Maybe it set the stage. I’m not so much wanting a room of my own, as I do a slice of the dining table as the light is so pretty there first thing in the morning.

Its my own opinion, but I believe that our souls or our hearts require a portion of the day to listen to and hear what it is our hearts desire. What our souls yearn for. And that is to find a way for us to express that.

Our lives are our offerings,
what we do matters,
what we say counts,
each decision we make,
makes up our lives.

Which leads me to this truth I believe ‘our lives are our greatest work of art’.

But how can we becomes our greatest if we wake up and don’t go to the source for grounding, for wisdom, for information on what we are here to do in this lifetime??

I’m not talking about rummaging around trying to find our ‘purpose’. For I believe that we are each multilayered and Cleo Wade writes beautifully about this saying that if you are unsure of your path or your purpose, begin to bring purpose to everything you do. Pretty soon your acts of service will bring you insights and truths.

Imagine as we do this, that we are tending to the worlds most gorgeous altar, each action a small devotion, leading us to the great reveal that all our actions matter. Heaven.

So, right now I’m still enjoying morning pages, lighting incense, making a small pot of tea that gives me exactly two small cups of tea and playing soothing music. This small set of rituals, or activities, offer me a rhythm that welcomes me to my day, whether I have work or not, whether its a weekday or weekend. And yes, there may be days when it needs to adjust to family goings on, or just you know LIFE! But I keep going and its feeding and upleveling me in my soul and in my heart.

What are your go-to’s? Do you love them? Do they make a difference to your day?
