Life in dusty pink
Burano Isand, June 2023
I was talking with a friend the other day, sitting at the Boat House in Rose Bay. If you go, warning, those pigeons are GAME!! They swoop at your food like their life depends on it, which, I guess it probably does.
Anyway she said, her definition of happiness is family. And I think she’s right. But also I’d like to add; colour.
One of my favourite books, The Art of Simplicitie by Dominque Foreau, suggests wearing monotones. And I thought, that would be like slowly killing my soul. But I love all her other suggestions, as always you take what is relevant and leave the rest…. or remember it in the back of your head to keep you heading toward what you love, in this instance, colour.
I love colour. I loved India for its colour, I kinda felt sad and down in Japan’s winter (no colour!), I felt lit up and inspired in Italy because of…. you guessed it, colour.
As I get older (& hopefully wiser) I am lit up and given a happiness hit by surrounding and infusing my life with colour. I bought fuscia heels in Rome, and dusky pink handbag in Venice and cute pottery in Sorrento. ALL PINK!
How do you live with colour?
